Friday Funnies

This was us yesterday....

But we're officially finished with the Fall semester! Yay!! Phew! Wow! Boo-hoo!! Lots of emotions today.

It's the end of the first semester of Edward's high school years...and the end of the last Fall semester for Emily's high school years.

Lots of emotions today......

Friday Funnies

This is brilliant advertising at work! I love how technical they make their "bookbook" sound. Enjoy a funny Friday!

And now...

...a few more "Ethanisms" (from this week)...

"You know, Mommy, I really don't like to write [for school]. I only do it because I love you." Then he smiled his sweetest, most lovey smile at me, which, of course, softened the "blow"...not that I didn't already suspect his dislike by all the moaning he emits while wielding a pencil above paper. I told him I appreciated his honesty, but he still needs to do it. And I smiled my sweetest, most lovey smile. Not sure it softened anything for him.

In the car yesterday, he said (continuously), "I love how our brains slow down the world outside the car when we're drive. That way we can enjoy all the pretty nature. And it is so pretty! Edward is so weird. He said when he dies he's going to say, 'This is the best day of my life.' (pause) But I guess it would be the best day since he would get to see God. That would be awesome! And I think the nature there would be so pretty, too. Esp. the trees. Because they would never die or turn brown."

*   *   *

He came down to lunch yesterday and said excitedly, "Edward was playing the 'Battlefield 4 Warsaw Theme Extended,' (a song) and it was EPIC!" No plain, everyday Battlefield 4 theme for them.

What funny things do your kids say? I'd love to hear them!

Friday Fun

Here's a fun music group -- called "K3" -- that my dear, sweet Dutch friend, Jadie, introduced me to today. I found this video after she sent me a few of their other ones, and I think it's such FUN!!!!

Enjoy! And join in to have a "hippie, happy shake" kind of Friday!

Frid-ache...

Forgive me for veering away from Friday Funnies today, but my heart is very heavy this week.

We just got a prayer request from our church, asking us to pray for a mother whose 22/23-year-old daughter just passed away yesterday. I don't know the specifics of the situation, but I did know this girl. She was married only two years ago this December. I wonder if her 23-year-old husband knew "until death do we part" would come so soon?

That came after a request from a dear friend asking us to pray for her family who'd just suffered the loss of her oldest sister -- only in her late 50s. Their father just suffered a stroke as well.

That came after hearing about a mother of six boys -- ages 7 to 14 -- in our cyber school, who died of a heart attack after suffering an asthma attack.

That came after praying for another dear friend whose aunt was found brutally murdered in her car.

Wow.

All in the same two-week period.

My head is spinning and my heart is reeling.

And while I didn't know all of these people, somehow I still feel the sadness of their deaths. Somehow their deaths bring our own mortality to the front of our minds.

And the brevity of life.

But God is sovereign.

He uses these moments...to remind me to tell my loved ones how much He and I love them...all the time.

Please keep these families in your prayers. Their aches won't diminish for a long time.

Fitting Tribute on Friday the 4th!

Usually I post a "funny" on Friday. But since today is Independence Day, I thought I'd find something patriotic and fitting for our American holiday instead. While I know this isn't a holiday to celebrate our troops, per se, without them we wouldn't have the freedom to enjoy it.

So...THANK YOU!

God bless them, and God bless America!

Good Friday

Solemn thoughts of the sacrifice made on this day...

Bearing shame and scoffing rude,
In my place condemned He stood—
Sealed my pardon with His blood:
Hallelujah, what a Savior! —Bliss

Stay tuned for Sunday...
